The Public Health Association supports the fluoridation of water. The evidence for the effectiveness and safety of fluoridation is strong. Public health and dental experts know that when fluoride is not available children's teeth suffer. Poverty and lack of fluoridation alternatives compound risks for children and appear to increase their rates of dental decay. Fluoride equals fewer cavities and fillings for our children.
